It's been two months today that my bichon passed away in her sleep - she was 14. I cry everyday I miss her so much - she was my life. Everyone says it was a blessing how she passed that I didn't have to make the decision to put her down but it doesn't help to ease the pain - it was such a shock. I just hope she knows how much she was loved.

I am sure she knows exactly how much you love her. I am so sorry for your loss. My baby passed away peacefully, although she was "put down" (I hate that term); it was before she was in pain (she was at the point where she was going to be in a lot of pain). 14 years is a long time to have your fur baby by your side. It is so hard to get through. A lot of people here have a thread where they write a letter to their loved one. I write to my Goldie and it helps. Take extra good care of yourself. And please keep sharing your feelings here. You are not alone. Take care.

Thank you so much for your kind words Elizabeth. I am so sorry for your loss of Goldie. I am going to take you up on your advice and write a letter to Camille. I hope they have become friends at the rainbow bridge.

Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year and be sure to take care of yourself as well.

Thanks again for reaching out to me.

I had to put down my cat a month ago.  He had diabetes and his organs were shutting down. He lost so much weight and he was all skin and bones. I loved him so much. Every day I think of him.  It still hurts so much.  I wish the pain would go away but it doesn't.  I don't think I will ever be happy again.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Time will heal the pain and will be replaced with the good memories. Take as much time as you need to grieve.

Take care of yourself.

Thank you, Cathy.  I didn't know there was so much suffering involved when you lose a pet.  Boots, my cat,  was my first pet that I ever had.  My Boots was my soul mate.  He was my life. He must have suffered a lot before I put him down. I just couldn't face the reality of his illness.  I was in total denial because subconsciously I think I knew it would be painful to do what I had to do. And it was the worst pain I have ever experienced. The pain is gradually going away.    Thanks again.  Take care.  Dixie

((((((((((((Boots & Dixie))))))))))))))))

I am so sorry for your loss, dear. But you gave the last most-difficult gift you could to him.

I didn't check, but wanted to mention to you that you can also post in the grief support category as well, if you haven't already done so.

Prayers for you and Boots~
