Tonight we are attempting to trap some feral cats we feed in order to get them spayed or neutered. We were able to get the one female, Goldilocks, who is the mother of the other 2 we are attempting to catch. There was 3, but one disappeared in February, We think that maybe she was taken with another calico, and this other black and white cat that hung around. That is what we are hoping happened to her. We would really like to catch Tiger, he is the only male that Goldilocks had. We don't want to catch Bandit as of yet, as she had some kittens about a month ago, and until we know they will be ok on their own, it is best not to have her gone from them for a long period of time. When she starts bringing the kittens around, we hope to get them and take them to a shelter where they can be tamed, and hopefully have a better life than on the streets. And at that time we will attempt to catch Bandit.

last night we were able to get Goldilocks, and she is now fixed and resting in a carrier in our bathroom. We are going to give her a few days to heal before she is released. And, we are hoping that during those few days, she may decide she likes the inside life better. We have caught Bandit a few times, but we don't want to do her yet, until her kittens are able to be on their own. And, we want to catch the kittens and get them into a shelter. I hope we get Tiger tonight, then we will wait a few weeks to get Bandit.

That's really good news, it takes time and patience to trap them. I know from trying to catch Francis and his Mom and siblings. He was the only one I was able to coax into the live trap and I think the others were taken by the foxes.

Do you have a live trap? Here in Toronto the rescues will lend you one. If you could catch Bandit in one, there is a chance the kittens would follow. Or, so they say but I couldn't get Francis' Mom to go into it which was a shame because the kittens always followed her.

Anyway, this is a great effort on your part and I wish you lots of luck. Bless you!

Sharon

ps - how is Sandy doing these days?

We have a lady helping that has 3 traps. She lets us borrow them, and we set it up. For Bandit, she hasn't brought her kittens around as of yet. They were born around the middle of May, I think May 16th, so it may be a few more weeks before she brings them. We weren't able to get Tiger last night, because he didn't come around, so we will try again on Tuesday or Wednesday. We were able to get another male though. but, he is a little more tame. Goldilocks, or Goldie as we call her is not happy being in the bathroom today. She has been meowing a lot today. I guess the anesthesia has wore off, and she is not sure of where she is, or where her colony mates are. The lady that is helping has traps that is for kittens, so we may be able to borrow those when the time is right. We were thinking of releasing Goldie tomorrow, but she was spayed yesterday morning, so are thinking a few more days in would be better to give her time to heal.

Sandy is doing a lot better. His eye is healed, and he is back to his singing self. He has a plastic bracelet, and gives us a serenade every night during supper. It is amazing how loud he can be with it in his mouth. But, the funny thing is he starts calling it before he goes to get it, as if he expects it to run to him.

We released Goldilocks, aka Goldie Sunday, and she seems to be doing well. We are now working on getting Tiger, he is the male. Hope we can get him this week. Then, in a few weeks, we will work on getting Bandit, but, she still seems to be nursing, though her kittens were brought around yesterday. We want to try and get them, and get them in a shelter while they are young enough to be socialized. The funny thing is that it was Goldie that brought them around, not Bandit. Goldie is Bandit's mom, and the kitten's grandma. Probably in a couple more weeks we will be able to get them. Then they will all be taken care of, and no more little ones. When we move, we will have to try and trap them again, and try and move them with us. I am not sure how they will take to a new place, and is it good to relocate feral cats. But, I would worry about them, plus they are used to us feeding them. I just wouldn't feel right leaving them behind.

Well, we were able to get 2 of the kittens, and now we have to get the third one. For now we will be fostering them, until a place opens for them that would be better. Or until they are ready to go to a forever home. I guess now, we will work on getting the mommy and have her spayed, and the last kitten so we can get it socialized.

We have 5 feral kittens. Apparently there is still 2 more out there. I hope we can find someone to foster them soon.

The lady helping us has taken 4 of the cats that we had, and she will foster them. So we have one left, the wildest one, and caught one this morning, so that is two. Now, there is 3 more. Just when we think we about have them all, they keep multiplying. Beginning to wonder if they are sprouting out of the ground like dandelions. I am hoping the 3 still outside are it, and then get mommy cat done. I think that there may of actually been 2 litters. One was Goldilocks, aka Goldie, and the other was Bandits, and then I think someone dropped off little Grayson.

For the past week, week and a half, we have been trying to catch a little yellow kitten, that we believe somebody dropped off. We tried everything we could think of to catch it. We could tell it was getting weaker, for it had stopped eating, but, it still had the strength to run from us. Unfortunately, it lost its battle, and has passed away. I am upset for it never really had a chance to know love. I wanted it to have that chance. I have asked God to let it be with the ones that are waiting for me, and we have named it Muffin. The neighbors came and told us they found it under their porch. That is where it always went to hide. I just wish we had been able to help it, and it didn't have to die alone. I think that is what bothers me the most. It was alone during its final moments.
