Not sure how well I will be able to keep updates - as I said when we lost Pearl so unexpectedly, we had 2 we knew were very sick and we knew were on borrowed time. We lost Pearl Oct. 1 and Diamond Nov. 12. Diamond was one of the 2, the other is Little White Feet, aka Sparky. He went back to his vet Thursday (12/13) and has reached a point his vet says she hopes we can keep him well enough and comfortable enough to be here Christmas - but her eyes said that is likely an outside estimate. I know he has had extra time - that the prognosis he faced over a year ago was 3 to 9 months, but that does not make this hurt any less or make it any easier.

Just remember that every day, every minute with our sweet friends is a gift, until WE give them the gift of forever, with no more pain, no more discomfort and ALL of our love.

Hugs to you.

Please spare a prayer for Sparky, It's NOT time so we aren't saying goodby today, but this means he will need to stay comfortable until Wednesday (12/26) as everyone will be closed for the holidays. To be honest that terrifies me - he is so frail - I don't want him to suffer, but I also don't want to steal his last few days by saying goodby early when he is still eating, drinking, and snuggling.

I will pray for Sparky.  I know how hard it is.  I did palliative care for my Lilly.  She lasted 1 month, & 1 day from her diagnosis.  I slept on the couch every night, just so I could watch her, snuggle with her, and just be with her.  Hopefully Sparky will continue eating, drinking & snuggling for a while.  It's such a hard thing to go through, but, we do it because we love them so much, and they know this, for sure.  You are in my thoughts.  Love & hugs - Lilly's mom

I am in the same boat over this Christmas season. Our beloved Katie began taking arthritis medicine a year ago, and just this week she lost the ability to use her back legs. I am so heartbroken and cry every day, all day. We want to spend Christmas with her. She is alert and eating but can't move on her own or stand long enough to go the bathroom on her own. Instead of us rescuing Katie almost 6 years ago, she rescued us! She is my baby and I don't know how to get through this and come one home to her not here. I will miss here so much.

just a quick update - we got Christmas! Sparky had turkey and a small bit of stuffing and cake and cookies. He greeted me this morning to let me know the water level in his bowl did not meet his approval (it was no where near empty) and he trotted down the hall to show me. I know we are on borrowed time, but each day is a blessing.

ty, Carl. I know that even Valentine's is quite unlikely, but I still hope - after all, Christmas was unlikely

Long overdue update - Sparky's next follow-up will be 4/19 . . . he is still holding his own! His vet just smiles and says she can't explain it, but it's good.

I still cannot believe we lost Marbles like we did - and with no warning, and I still feel I cheated her. She played 2nd to Sparky because 'she will have so much time after we loose Sparky' so was given absent-minded pettings and shooed off when she cried for lovings so Sparky could be held while we still could - but she left us 51 days ago and Sparky is still here. Now all of those 'we will make up not making time for you' never were and will never be. And I still hope she knew that I never stopped loving her, never loved her less. Sparky still gets a lot of attention because we know we are being blessed with extra time, but the rest are no longer made to wait for attention, because we really never know . . . . .
