Hello all, The boyz were out in the yard and kept circling around the old hollowed out tree near the back fence. Then I noticed a shiny, bright eye looking at then through the branches. A few seconds later, a masked face belonging to the eye appeared and then we all heard what sounded like kittens. Well, it was kittens, Racoon kits and their mom and dad have moved into the tree stump. Today, at least they did not bother the dogs, they found plenty to eat in the trash can cafeteria on the other side of the fence. We think we hear two babies and they must be very young because they did not come out to say hi at all. I did notify the humane society and they will come and make sure that it is safe to leave them live in the tree until the entire family can be safely moved. Our animal neighbors now include the Coons, the Lephew family , several wild bunnies and many mule deer. Have a good work weel all. Meri and the boyz

Coon family update, there are in fact two coon babies, a male and a female. They are about 2 months old and still nursing. Mom and dad are feeding in the trash can cafeteria and in what is left of the alley gardens. They are enjoying th left over corn and the cobs. They do not like to share with the squirrels, and at night they too, march across the deck roof and onto the roof of the house. Our Vet said if they are comfortable in the stump they may spend the entire winter with us. Stay tuned for more coon news soon. Meri and the Doxies
