I try to remember these words when I interact with people and animals.  I'm not sure who actually wrote this poem, but I've seen it attributed to both Audrey Hepburn and Sam Levenson.  If we could act on them, the world would be a better place.

"For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you'll never walk alone....
People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed and redeemed and redeemed....
Never throw out anybody.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you'll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands.  One for helping yourself, the other for helping others."

My goodness, I've never heard this one before but I love it!  It sums up what we're here for in a nutshell!  I'm not a very religious person but I do believe that "God" helps those who help themselves.  Learn to forgive, smile...I know my mom and my kitty Molly have done so,  :o)
