In July 2017 we had to put our sweet boy Lucky my golden retriever to sleep. I still have been crying for him. I just miss him so much. Then 5 months later my husband passed away in his sleep at a nursing home from cardiac arrest. He passed away in December 2017. I miss both so much. I want another golden retriever but I am not really ready. Any help would be helpfull.

I am so sorry for both of your losses.  If you want another Golden Retriever then you should get one, but if you are not ready then give yourself time to grieve.  You will know when the time is right.  Goldens are one of the sweetest and most fun loving dogs and will surely bring you joy and happiness.  I hope this helps.  Please let us know how you are doing.

Dear Tammys,

I am so sorry for your losses.

We are never ready for another .. I know I wasn't 3 years ago.  But my wife was in a bad state.  So we adopted Ellie and Missy 2 months after Toby had passed, 13 months after Tuffy had passed.

I was not ready, and it did take longer to bond.  But after several months the grief subsided and the focus became on life and love and the girls.

Tuffy and Toby are forever in my heart.  As your husband and Lucky are with you.  That never changes.  I believe we will all be together again.

We received Tuffy's diagnosis and prognosis 4 years ago today.  5 days later we set him free .. I cried today, it isn't a daily or weekly thing anymore.  But I don't think a month goes by.

I would encourage you to start looking.  One will 'talk' to you and you will find your heart has room for more love.

Hugs,
Tuffy, Toby, Ellie and Missy's Dad

I had similar concerns, and it did take longer with Ellie and Missy than it had with Tuffy and Toby.

But it did happen and I love them completely now.

Follow your heart.  :-)

Hello Tammys,
My sympathies to You. The stress level felt by You going through the losses of not one but two is an emotional roller coaster and bound to take it's toll in more ways than one. You are grieving for two Souls, and that can take some time to recover from. As one person commented, follow your heart. Emotions will still be high for You at this moment in time I would imagine. I would have a word with your physician just to have that heart to heart and see if you are physically and emotionally ready for another pet '''commitment'''.     Best Wishes,                Sherry/Perryxx
