Well, I've done it again.  This time, I have found what I was looking for, and I think Kyrie is happy too.

Even tho I had rescued Jake, there was something still just not right.  I knew what it was, and didn't know what to do.  I am glad I rescued Jake, but he is nothing as to what I wanted in a dog.  He has made himself right at home, and is as happy as he can be. And he has a forever home here.  He's a good dog.
I continued to look at petfinder and the local shelters for what I was looking for, thought I found it once, but wasn't to be.  Then one day I found Sassie, and her brother.  A friend also saw her and sent me an email, and told me she could "have them pulled" if I wanted them.  I went by this particular shelter, looked at them talked to the people there...and had decided to take them both. Well by the time I got home to make my calls, the boy had been taken.  So lucky for me, Sassie was still there.  My friend went the next day and picked her up, took her home with her.  Bathed, fed and took care of her until I could go get her.
Needless to say I'm in love.  She is part jack russell, and we think part border collie.  Smart, stubborn, a mess.  I think I've found what I was looking for.  I see characteristics in her that I saw in Kyrie, but I realize she's not Kyrie too.
She in 9-10 weeks old now, working on housebreaking....wish me luck!!  It's been 8 years since I housebroke a puppy....oh how much we forget.
She loves going outside and "harrassing" everyone out there.  She's just a hoot!!  So, here she is!!

Oh, she is ADORABLE! I smiled at your post bc I too have "started over" with a puppy.....mine is a chihuahua and now 11 wks old. I've had him a month. He is the silliest, cutest, cuddliest little guy. He is nothing like our dog who died and yet everything like him if that makes sense. I even calculated that Andy was conceived right around the time Bennie died.....I just know part of Bennie's spirit is in Andy. :) Andy is now out of the infant stage and into the "toddler" stage.....if I turn my back he goes and empties little trash containers....dragging everything all over the floor, chases the BIG cat and then trembles when the cat turns around and gives him the evil eye saying"Really." .... pulls anything in reach out of the closet, including husband's shoes 3 x bigger than him lol, just basically everything in his life is joyful. I get nothing much done at home these days!  We're still working on house breaking too.....with this little one I am learning to read his signals.... so like I said once before.....*I* am the one getting housebroken, lol. (We call him the "tootsie roll factory" since that's what his #2s look like and he seems to have an endless production line!)
Good luck to you and am so happy you found a true love!

What a cutie pie! :-}  Yep, puppies are a complete change in "our" lifestyle... but there is just nothing like a new puppy in the house.  And the bond you create... oh my goodness.  You couldn't be more attached if they were your own new born.  I really envy you doing this.  But I know I couldn't keep up with a puppy now.  When I got Max he was 1.5 so I thought it would be much easier on me and on him.  ..Well folks, don't kid yourself....  That age can be a handful too :-}  But we love him!

I wish you all many happy years filled with slurppy kisses, warm cuddles, and lot's of tail wagging!

OMG, she is just precious.  I love successful rescue stories.

After we lost our Beagle, Bonnie Lou, about 6 weeks later, I decided it was time to get another dog.  We are partial to Beagles.  So, I logged on to our local animal rescue site and can you believe there was the most beautiful Beagle, begging for a forever home.

Of course, we took her home.  We named her EmmyLou.  We are pretty sure she has some Jack Russell in her blood.

She is very, very loving and very smart.  She knows this is her forever home.

This week end we had to board her because we went out of town.  I was so afraid she would think she was being "dumped" again.   We had someone from the vet's office meet us when we got home and she was so happy to see us.

We love this little girl so much.  She has not replaced Bonnie, but she has allowed the sun to shine in our lives again.
