I posted my favorite picture of Lewis on a Yahoo site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/26648228@N06/) with the caption of "Lewis was born Nov. 11 2005 and passed away from illness May 11 2008. He is the most exceptional, sweet, funny and playful cat I have ever had and I do love and will miss him greatly but Lewis will always be present in my heart and thoughts! "

I first posted about Lewis on May 15th titled "Profound lost of my cat Lewis"

Dear Jim,

I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved boy, Lewis - he is so adorable.  It is truly so devastating to lose a precious and constant friend and companion, a soulmate.  He was so young and that is even more tragic.  My heart goes out to you and I hope you will come back to Petloss when you need to, as everyone is so kind and understands what you are going through.

The picture of Lewis is beautiful.

Wishing you peace and healing,
Katharine, Grunt's Mom Forever

Dear Jim.  I am sorry for the loss of your precious Lewis.  He is absolutely gorgeous!  I read your other post also I hope you don't mind if I reply to you here.  It is always heartbreaking to loose our little ones.

I came here in April 04.  I lost my Pip aged 2 and a half - she had a stroke or heart attack in the early hours and there was nothing I could do. My cats are the only children I can have and I was totally heartbroken.  I have had other pets that I have lost to old age and illness and they were expected to pass eventually - so although I had them longer I had more time.  Pip's passing was a total shock, I felt it was so unfair, I was very angry and depressed.

What hurts us so much, I think, is that we have a very special relationship with them.  They are innocent of all the traits that can make some humans not nice.  We don't have horrible memories of our pets, just our loss of them.  As much as we love our relatives we can often remember a bad thing they did or said, but we never have that with our pets, they are unjudgemental and loyal and they love us whatever, we just love them more for it - so the loss can be harder to bear for us.

I totally understand how you feel and what you said in your message.    I still miss Pip four years later, I still have some anger that she was taken, but I am glad I knew her at all and that she was loved for her time with me.  I am also glad she went quickly indoors, as it could have happened anytime and if I knew it was going to happen I KNOW I WOULD HAVE MADE HER MISERABLE, trying to cure her, operations .. whatever it took to keep her, but perhaps that would have been wrong?

There will always be a special place for Lewis in your heart and no-one can take that away.  The grief will be bad for a while, but will get better when you can remember him fondly and be grateful you knew him for anytime at all.

Best wishes to you.

Oh Jim, what a beautiful boy.  I love the picture.  One of the cutest I've seen.  I can tell by his face that he was very special.  Thank you for sharing it with us.

Lewis and Nikki are both absolutely beautiful.
I lost my youngest cat, Tash, on April 9, 2008.
My thoughts are with you both.

Nikki is very pretty, love those white paws and Tash reminds me of a beauty I had 10 years ago that past away at the age of 16, she was very sweet, very gentle.

Yestraday I recieved Lewis's grave marker which includes his picture but oh recieving it did bring up waves of sadness of losing Lewis which I expected.
