Hello everyone. This is my first post, actually I just discovered this site and I think someone here maybe could help me.

My cat Otto, 11 years old, disappeared 3 weeks ago. We (my family and me) already accepted that he is not coming back, since he never left for this long before. He was my best friend, and I will love him and miss him for the rest of my life.
The thing is, while we were searching for him around the neighborhood, we found this little baby cat who look just like him. He was hurt, so we take him home to take care of him and we finally adopted him. I don't think we were ready for it, but we already love him anyway.
Now, he is an out door cat, like, he lives here but he also go around the block with his cats friends (Otto always did this too). And every time he leaves for more than and hour I just start panicking and I can't stop thinking that he won't come back and I literally can't sleep, or think, or eat. I have physicals pains and I almost past out a couple of times.

Did this happen to anyone else who lost their pet? I honestly think that I'm going insane or something. I hope this makes sense, my English is kind of messy.

Hi.  I'm sorry that you're experiencing this anxiety.  I would, too, in your situation.  Have you made sure that he doesn't have another home in the neighborhood?  If you know for sure that he was abandoned, you'll probably eventually feel more comfortable when he's out of your sight, knowing that you are his family and he'll want to return.
