Can anyone tell me what helps in the process of grieving for beloved pets? Has anyone found something helpful? A book? A website? Anything? Therapists ? Support groups ? I feel like I can’t handle it. Thank you.

Hi, all of those things you mentioned can help, and certainly the community on this site is a tremendous help too.

The pain in the early stage, after losing my cat, was more painful and traumatic than anything else I had experienced in my life. I really couldn't handle it too. There are no instant or even quick fixes for this process. But bit by bit it will get a bit easier, though it often takes a long time for this to happen. Don't be frightened if you find yourself crying for months on end, as this too is really normal for S lot of us.

I found that when we suffer such intense pain, it makes us more sympathetic to others who are suffering the same loss. It may help you to offer some words of support to others here who have just lost their pets. At the very least, it helps for you and others to know that you are not alone in this journey of pain. And that does seem to help a little.
