My son, who's 20, works for the public works department of our township. He's a real manly man but has a very sensitive side to him as well. Yesterday he came home from work very upset and sad. I figured it was something to do with the job itself. He sat at the table and told me how 2 baby bunnies came into the path of his huge mower and sadly didn't make it. He was so upset as this is his first Spring at the job and it never crossed his mind that this may happen. He sat at the table and teared up. My big six foot boy gently picked the two babies up, prepared a little grave for them, furnished it with a hand made cross from 2 sticks and said a little prayer for these 2 bunnies. I was so broken hearted for these babies that never had a chance to live but at the same time was touched that my boy showed such reverence for God's small creatures. Some of his co-workers thought he was being ridiculous but he he didn't let that bother him. I pray that these babies went to the bridge in an instant and that they hadn't suffered. TinysMom

Dear TinysMom:

Your son sounds like an angel.  How wonderful he showed such kindness and compassion, in dealing with the accidental deaths, of these (2) bunnies.  What a shame, there aren't more like him, in the world.  He is a tribute to you as well for obviously he learned firsthand at home, to have a respect for all creatures, both great and small.  I'm sure you're very proud of him.  Please tell him his story touched my heart and I'm grateful he cared enough to act the way he did.  I'm sure those babies went fast as you hoped and went straight to Rainbow Bridge to play with all the other creatures.  Hugs to you both.

What a caring hart has your son!!! You must be so proud of him. I think it's a shame that happened with the little bunnies. I just cannot believe why other people don't care about those little creatures. They deserve to live just like us. I always try to save animals who are hurted in the road or try to save them from people who really wants to hurt them. I just cannot stand that someone is hurting an animal, I think the people who do that are not human at all. The same they do to the animals they can do to people. Thanks for sharing, I know those little babies are now happy and safe on the bridge.

It takes a real man to show compassion and care. Only real men won't care what other people think or say.

I think he's a very strong person and I congratulate you on his upbringing.

Sometimes the biggest of animal lovers can hurt animals by accident. I hope the bunnies didn't suffer much.

What a true gentleman! That kind act will not go forgotten by the One whose judgement matters most.
Thank him for caring for those bunnies. I wish more people had a heart like that. This world would be a much happier place.

You have a good son. I always think that people who are kind to and help animals are somehow the cream of crop of humans. I think it's sweet the way he handled this.

Dear Tiny's Mom,

You, my friend, have a very special son.  His coworkers made fun of him and he still did this.  Good for him!  As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  Great job, Mom!

Those baby bunnies are in paradise tonight smiling warmly down on your boy.  God Bless him and you.

Dear Tinys Mom.

Please tell your son that we will pkant extra lettuce, carrots and tomatoes for the wild bunies that live in and around our backyard all spring, summer and fall. We gladly share with the new crop of bunnies each and every year.

Thank you son from us for treating the baby bunnies with respect.

Thanks to you all for the nice words. I am glad he has our compassion when it comes to animals. My husband ran into my sons co-worker at the local store last night. The man said to my husband "What's wrong with your kid? He was out there today burying two rabbits he ran over- put a cross up and everything. That's ridiculous" My husband said "There's nothing wrong with my son. We've raised him to have feelings and to be compassionate towards all living things." Needless to say- the man had nothing else to say and my husband just walked away smiling. Thanks again. TinysMom
