To all my PL friends,

I can't thank you enough for all the kind words, support, and beautiful stories of your own furbabies to get me through this loss. Losing B Lucy at such a young age was so traumatic and I don't think I'll ever understand it.

But, just as I remember when my Jennifer passed away 3 years ago, when I went to pick up B Lucy's ashes, I felt a strange sense of comfort. My parents had asked me why I chose to cremate her when I only had her for a year...I immediately said "read the stories of my friends on Pet loss! That'll make you understand!!" They knew my choice to cremate Jennifer after she lived with me 17 years was a solid one, but they couldn't get doing it for my baby kitten. B Lucy deserved to be at peace and back home again. And frankly, as we've all mentioned before, it gives US the strength to go on and be able to talk to a piece of them. I sobbed so much taking that little box in my hands, knowing my little one had be resorted to nothing but ash and bone. But when I placed the beautiful mahogony box on my shelf, I opened it up and filled it with her favorite mouse, a couple of balled up receipts she liked to kick around the wood floors, and a christmas bow she carried around in her mouth for 4 months after the holidays! All her favorite things are with her, placed next to this great black and white picture of her in a frame.

Last night Ava and I went over and said goodnight to her, and it was so painful to see Ava sniffing the box and not understanding what we were looking at. If she only knew her little baby was in there.

Thank you again for everything you do, not just for me, but also for everyone else. You have all lessened the pain of each and every one of us who enter this wonderful place to cry, laugh, and remember.

Dear Liza,

I am so happy your beloved girl, Brucey Lucy, is home with you again.   I loved reading about your little memorial to her.   She was blessed to have you as a furmom, just as you were blessed to have her.

Hugs,
Melissa
