as most of you know, the northern two thirds or so of California has been affected by a complex of over a thousand fires ignited mostly by lightning strikes from a freakish dry thunderstorm last weekend.  the air quality even in areas NOT directly affected by the fires (I'm the the central San Francisco Bay area, and the fires mercifully have missed us this time) has been poor, and many people have had to evacuate their homes.

I'm sure there are many companion animals who have been injured, ran off with all the commotion or lost when their owners were packing up to head for a "people shelter"or even left behind.

I'm also sure that there are animals that need temporary foster care who are now in shelters, as well as many animals that will need new homes

if you are someone who can help out by contacting a shelter in an affected area (mostly rural settings with limited resources anyway).please see what you can do I think outreach to people who are worried about their pets for services such as this one would also be a blessing

I've been following the course of the continuing fires, which are not well contained in many places - we are low on firefighters AND on water and suitable vehicles to get in there. if you are someone who would like to help heal fro pet loss by assisting other animals reunite with their families or find new homes.please either e-mail me or find an animal welfare organization in California that is working with  pet fire casualties.I'll do some research on this too and get back to you.

be well and hug your critters!  Judith
