Yesterday I lost my little bunny and I’m devastated. I’ve had him since he was 3 months old and he lived until he was nearly 9, he was a house bunny with the funniest and sweetest character. He very suddenly became ill and went downhill rapidly, I took him to the vet but he died a few hours later, can’t get over how quick it all was. I’m beating myself up for not recognising that he was ill sooner or for taking him to the vets sooner but I honestly didn’t know, it all happened within a day and a half. He was my fur baby and I’m totally heartbroken, can’t stop crying and don’t know how I’ll get over this. Binky free little Roary, you’ll be loved and missed always.

I lost my bunny to a predator six months ago and I truly feel your loss and grief. It sounded like he was a sweet boy who was loved and lived a long life for a bunny! I know you must have taken great care of him; honestly it’s unfair how much the world has it out for them because I know many people who have lost their bunnies prematurely due to both heath reasons and accidents.I tried my personal best to provide a safe home for my boy and still lost him at the age of 6. So for your baby to have been 9 I know you must’ve been very careful with him and given him lots of love and attention. It wasn’t your fault at all because it happened so fast. You will be sad and you’ll keep blaming yourself because hindsight is always 20/20. But just know that you’re only human and you can’t foresee the future/go back in time. So do things that you do have control over - speak to family/friends when you feel capable, think of the good times you had, memorialize him by getting a portrait done of him, etc. And I also found a lot of comfort here on this message board. Stay strong <3

Thank you so much for your kind words Emma and I’m sorry for the loss of your bun too. I know he was elderly and he did have a good long life, the suddenness of his death was so painful, I’m sure you felt the same too. He was very much loved and I really miss his presence in the house, hate going home now that I know his furry face isn’t there to greet me. I hope the pain stage passes soon and I can remember the happy memories I have of him, at the moment it’s still so raw. I’ve discovered that people really don’t understand how I’m feeling, I’ve been told it’s just a rabbit or get another one to cheer me up. He may not have been human but he was my fur baby!
