I'm interested in the candle service or just having a candle to light for our little Sammy. Can you tell me what kind of candle to get? Does it matter? I usually prefer clean burning candles but I don't even know what to get.

Hi Lilsam,
First may I say am sorry for your loss and glad you have joined petloss family!

So glad that you are interested in joining us to tribute our furangels across the world.

10 pm eastern every Monday night in the chat room and second sunday of every month 3 pm eastern.

All you will need is any kind of candle, I only use flameless as there is no smoke or chance of wax spilling.

You can use a 3 wick candle, 3 separate candles, even 3 lights if you don't have. The idea itself is to light the way.. Often I light 1 big candle for those that dont have one on hand.

It will be a text to read for about 20 mins, at the end there re candle 1, 2 and 3 lit for different reasons.

Please join us this Monday ngiht and look forward to seeing you there. Come early to meet others like yourself and then we will have the ceremont and chat afterwards.

Sammy's mom,

I am so sorry for the loss of your sweet Sammy. IBD was the main culprit in my cat Carty's passing too. I know all to well how this disease works and just when you think you have them stabilized they have another flare up, and you struggle all over again. Plus many times it does lead to lymphoma. I know your pain and how you feel you didn't do enough. Please be easy on yourself, it is a hard disease to fight.

I think lighting a candle in Sammy's honor is wonderful. I started participating in the Monday night candle ceremony four months ago after Carty passed. On this site it lists three candles or a three wick candle, but you really only have to have one. It doesn't matter what kind, so it can even be a flameless candle. The candles are all lit so our furbabies can see the beautiful glow from the bridge as a reminder of our eternal love for them. The ceremony really comes from the heart, so it can be very emotional. I feel even closer to Carty after each ceremony, so I continue to do it each week. Plus I try to light a candle each night in his honor. I hope you will be able to participate this Monday and get some comfort from it as so many do.

Many hugs,
Carty's mom

I bought a small candle holder from the website Mourning Lights that has a photo of Carty on it with some script. I was very pleased with the work if you are interested.

Thank you so much Jamie. It was very comforting to us that you shared your own story. We were getting caught up in blaming and guilting ourselves. We forgot about all the good things we did for Sammy. I found Sammy a pumpkin scented candle because I know he would have loved it! That little rascal would have tried to eat it! Especially since we gave him pumpkin to help his IBD flares. We lit his candle last night to mark when it was exactly one week since his passing. We looked at pictures and videos of him and we talked about all the crazy and funny things he did and we laughed a lot. I like to believe he was there in spirit with us, the sense of peace and calm we experienced was almost surreal. Thank you again Jamie. I'll be lighting my candle for Sammy and for all the other babies everyone has loved and missed. ❤️
