Hi - I'm really struggling with the sudden loss of my beautiful naughty rescue terrier. He had so many scrapes over the years then ended up sick on good Friday hospitised on Saturday and he died on Easter Sunday. I had only had him 8.5 years and he was such a character and the house is so empty and quiet without him I can't come to terms with his loss. I have two younger girls - one just a puppy but my 7 year old and myself are distraught - I can't stop crying and feel so miserable. I'm not sure how old he was but I don't think any older than 10 or 11 - I feel I let him down as he was rescued off the street in a bad way. He was just a lovable rascal

I am so, so sorry for the loss of your baby. You did not let him down. Everyone I have seen here have the most loving hearts and I can’t imagine you did anything but the best you could do in a hard situation. He will never leave you in your heart. I lost my baby on April 3rd and I understand the unbearable pain of the loss. It has helped me to continue to talk to him, write him letters, and ask him to come to me in my dreams.

He was so lucky to have you and now he is totally at peace. In time you will remember the good times and smile. Mourning him is your way of honoring him. You will be okay. You are not alone. Many people here understand and are grieving with you.

I hope you keep him in your heart. He is not physically there but he will never leave you.

Thank you so much - it is so incredibly painful to lose a dog. I just wish I had known he was going to die the last time I saw him at the vets I don't know if I have any tears left but still they come. He has broken my heart
