We lost our cat on Friday after she ran off because she felt snow for the first time (it's the worst snow we've had in 30 years) we checked everywhere, neighbours gardens, garages, under cars and behind sheds, we've made leaflets and put them through people's doors and we've been out calling for her again and again. We've pretty much lost all hope and now we don't know what to do. We're hoping she's found shelter in a garage or a shed or even been taken in somewhere but as the snows thawing and she's still not coming home we're getting more and more worried, her sister is so lonely and I really don't know how to deal with the fact that we may never see her again.

I am so dreadfully sorry that your kitty is lost! I recently read that putting their used litterbox outside can help them find their way home. Apparently the scent carries for a very long distance. Also to turn off loud fans and other noisy things so that if they come home and meow to be let back in you will be able to hear them. If weather permits to leave windows open so that you can hear them. I just read this article that says that used socks smell like you so to place those around your property to help them find their way back--if you scroll down it has a section for cats lost outdoors and other tips to help find them Lost Cats

I also read that if it is an indoor cat that is lost they don't recognize their homes from the outside but do from the inside so to leave your curtains open and the lights on at night. Even if your kitty normally recognizes her home from the outside it might look totally different from what she is used to seeing if she has never seen it in the snow.

Praying that you find your kitty soon!
