This just now came to my inbox; if anyone in Austin, TX or surrounding area can help to save poor, blind Lance's life, the contact info is there. . . .

We just learned of a blind Maine coon at the Austin shelter. They have set a death time of 5 PM Saturday. We have found him a forever home in NY but desperately need someone to pull him and briefly foster while we work out transport. If you know anyone who could help, please have them contact me at: Here's the info on poor Lance:

This is the info on Lance, a blind Maine Coon in Austin, TX. We have found him a forever home in NY. But he is set to die on Saturday at 5:00 PM. We need someone to pull him then foster for a few days while we work out transport, probably with Pilots N Paws. If you know anyone who would help, please, please pass the you can do.
Contact me by email at if you can help. This is truly urgent and a forever home is waiting!

OMG Sharon, I lost my internet connection earlier and just now saw this.

Dear God I hope Lance was spared and is on his way to his new home.

There is an organization in North Carolina, Blind Cats Rescue & Sanctuary, that gives blind cats a quality life and may be able to help with transport arrangements in cases like this.

This is heartbreaking and I hope there is a happy ending.

Anna, having reread the original post and visited the page this lady has for her own blind cat, I believe she's a volunteer with Blind Cat Rescue. The day was wrong: it's tomorrow, Sunday, 4/18, that his time is up. Geez - this people work on Sundays?? Please pray real, real hard tonight; I know I will be.

You've probably already seen it on the Grief board, but Lance (and another, vision-impaired cat) have been pulled and are being fostered. Such wonderful news for them!
