I recently euthanized my aggressive dog and am trying to fight the guilt. He was pretty severely human and dog aggressive and while i successfully managed him for four years i just couldn't handle the stress of it anymore. He never bit anyone but we had several near misses that could of been so much worse if one more little thing had gone wrong. I couldn't trust him to be handled by anyone but me just in case something triggered him so every part of my life had to be adjusted around him. I just feel like i made a selfish decision because i probably could have managed him and maybe i should've tried harder. Most of me knows it was a reasonable decision to keep people and other dogs safe and release him from his demons and myself from the stress. It just hurts that he was very physically healthy but he just couldn't seem to move past his aggression even after working with multiple trainers and even trying a few anxiety meds.

I am so sorry that you had to make this dreadful decision. There is nothing I can say to make you pain and heart ache go away. Please try yo find peace in knowing that you released him from his demons that tormented him and he is at peace now. God will love and take care of him. At the Bridge he is a new dog where nothing from his past will haunt him and he can have a new start in life there. You tried, I can feel it in your words. No one knows what troubles our Babies and goes through their minds. I am dealing with Termy's sister who was adopted when he was 12. She has her demons too that she can't seem to move past but she isn't aggressive, thankfully. We all do what we think is the best for our Fur Babies and release them from pain, illnesses and demons. Know that your dog is at peace now, as everyone here has had to do in one way or another.
Love and doggie hugs
