Beware of your local vet.  This is a horror story.  Friends of ourse had to put their little maltese, Ashley, to sleep yesterday.  She was 15 years old and fell off the bed, paralyzed and during the transport to vet she bit one of the owners.  At the vet's office they had to put her to sleep but mentioned in passing that she bit.  Oh, that means Rabies.  Our friends put the body on HOLD and raced home to get the certificate.  DURING THAT BRIEF TIME OUT the vet office cut Ashley's head off to send it out for Rabies testing then cremated the body.  THAT FAST.  When our friends called back, they were told the vet office made a mistake and was of course sorry.  SORRY!!!!!!!  THAT GOES WITHOUT SAYING.

They are devastated of course, so this is a warning to one and all.  BE VERY WATCHFUL of your dogs at ALL times.

Prayers for Ashley too are requested.  She was a darling dog.

How devastating for your dear friends! The vet certainly overreacted to the situation.  My heart goes out to your friends.  Not only did they lose their precious pet, but they have to endure extra heartache.  They will be in my prayers.

I'm so sorry for this Family,  and for yours.  I did hear that this is how they test for Rabies...however,  to do it while the Family was attempting to get proof of the Vaccination...with the Puppy already in Heaven...I can't imagine.  OMG...no need,  no need to do that.....
