Yesterday afternoon I had to put my beautiful cat Bandit to sleep. She was 22 years old and in the last few weeks she had become weaker and weaker. She couldn't walk very well anymore and had lost most of her teeth and had a very hard time eating. We brought her to the vets asleep and she never woke up. I'm having a really hard time with it and I thought I was prepared but I guess you can never really be prepared for that. My boyfriend (now husband) gave her to me when I was in college. She was only 5 weeks old and tiny - she could stand up in the palm of my hand. I'm so glad to have found this website, just having someplace to talk about this with others who have been through it is wonderful.

Nancy,
I'm so very sorry about your beautiful Bandit. I know the hurt and emptiness
you are feeling. I lost my precious Pookie in March and for me it just gets
worse every day. I miss him so much.  Having Bandit for 22 years is such
a blessing, you two had a life-long bond, and I know she will let you know
she is ok now, waking up whole again, healthy & happy, at the Bridge with all our furbabies. You will see her again someday. You'll cry probably
forever and that is expected. But here at this site you will find so many
wonderful people who will help you and support you. We've all lost our
precious ones and we understand what you feel.

Dear Nancy,

My heart is heavy for you as you go through this heartwrenching time.  We know that day will come, but when it does, we are never prepared for how deep the pain really becomes no matter how prepared we thought we were.  I remember how agonizing the burial or cremation decision was for me even though I thought I had it planned out- it just seemed so final.  Thankfully for the support of beautiful petparents here, I was greatly helped in my decision.

I am glad you came here to express your sorrow.  Bandit obviously had a great life with you and I know you, your husband and Bandit are all blessed to have each other.

Do what you feel you need to do to help yourself heal, there is always someone here at your fingertips to listen.  Many find it very healing to talk about their loved one- the happy memories collected over a lifetime.  When you are ready, you can share your story about your precious girl if you like. In the meantime, I hope you feel her love nearby to offer you peace.

Peaceful Journey, Precious Bandit

Nancy,

I am so sorry for the loss of your Bandit.  It is so hard to lose our precious babies.  To have had her for 22 years is truly amazing.  I'm sure you have many fond memories of your Bandit. I hope that those memories will give you the strength to deal with your huge loss.

I lost my kitty, Piggy, who was 16 on 4/13/08.  She was with me since I was 14 years old. I'm still trying to cope with it. It's very hard.

We are help to support you and listen.  Please count on us.

I will keep you and Bandit in my prayers.

Love,

Piggy's Mom

((((Nancy & Bandit)))))

I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious baby Bandit.  I know how hard it is.  My cat Sheba passed away last August at the age of 20.  I, too thought that I was somewhat prepared, in that I knew the day was coming, but the reality is I just couldn't believe the day ever arrived.  I miss her so much and always will and I know you feel the same about Bandit.  All I can say is time does ease the harsh and horrible pain that comes at first, but the love lives on forever and I know I wouldn't have it any other way.  A beautiful creature such as they touch our lives in ways some could never understand, those of us that do understand are truly blessed.  So, from one blessed being to another, carry the love in your heart and your Bandit will always be with you.

Love and peace with deep sympathy,
Kim & Sheba

Nancy,

I am so very sorry for your loss of Bandit.  We've all been through this kind of loss, and it is the hardest thing to go through.  These wonderful creatures give us nothing but unconditional love, and we are the better for it, but it's so hard to say goodbye.  I hope you'll always remember that Bandit will be with you, in spirit, forevermore.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you travel this new road...

Dear Nancy,

I'm so sorry your Precious Bandit passed.  You are so right when you say you can never be prepared to lose a Beloved One.  All rational thought goes out the window when the reality hits.

You were indeed blessed to share such a long life with your baby girl, no doubt a life filled with much love and excellent care.  The visual of Bandit when she first came to you, standing in the palm of your hand is just so dear.  She is now in the eternal place of love, waiting for the time when you will be together again.

Sending my deepest sympathy, and hugs,
Katharine, Grunt's Mom Forever

So sorry about Bandit.  I had a cat once who lived to be close to 22.  It broke my heart to lose him.  He had always been there.  They are a part of you.  Again, I am very sorry. YOu are right--I don't believe there can really be any preparation for losing a beloved animal.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Bandit. I wish there were some magic words I could say to ease your pain but there just aren't any. Your loss is so new. I believe Bandit is with you, her spirit all around you. She knows how much you love her and she will always be with you. You have a little angel to watch over you now. Keep coming here to this site, it will really help. The people are so kind and we all do understand. Again, I am so very sorry. Donna, Mr. Meowgy's mom
