I saw a cute little baby bunny in the yard last week when I was cutting the grass.  I watched it until it was safely hidden in the flower bed.  I saw it again yesterday out of my kitchen window, he was eating some plants and I felt peaceful, which I haven't in a long time since losing my beloved cat, George, five weeks ago.

Today, I was walking in the yard to close the gate and I saw the baby bunny lying in the grass.  I went over to him and saw that he was dead.  I gently picked him up and I could tell his death had just happened within a few minutes.  Not sure what happened, I did notice a small area on his back leg that may have been a wound, and his eyes were still open like he had passed from fright.  They are so delicate, I'm sure his little heart gave out.

I wrapped him up gently and placed him in a box so nothing else could get to him.  I started crying over this poor little one's loss of life, and I'm sure a lot has to do because I am still grieving over losing George. These little innocent lives, they harm no one.  I wish I could save all of them.

I guess it will still take some time....

I know how you feel.  Even though I understand that all the wild carnivores need to eat to survive, I still question the natural state of things - why should innocent harmless creatures have to suffer?  But it seems to be the way of the world, even though there is no good reason for it that I can see.  So it goes, I guess.  Totally sucks.
