My 4 yr old kitty was diagnosed with distemper on Saturday. He passed early this morning. I just feel so absolutely heartbroken and devastated. I tried so hard to help him fight the good fight. And now all I can do is walk around the house and look at all the places he use to sleep and cry... It's so empty here without him.

I'm sorry.  My dog died yesterday.  He had cancer but I didn't expect the end to come so suddenly.  It stinks.

I am very sorry for your loss. I fought the good fight for my cat Emerald. She was 19 and I pulled out all the stops to prevent her from dying. When she died (unexpectedly to me as I thought I had it in the bag) I was hurt beyond words. I had pulled out all the stops. I did everything. Why did fate fail me? When you do everything..pull out all the stops, there is supposed to be a happy ending.

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart bleeds for you.

I am so sorry to hear that. And I understand. I knew if was possible my cat could die, I just thought that he was strong enough to have a fighting chance. Plus I was giving him IV fluids and anti-nausea medication. I guess you never can tell. At least he isn't suffering anymore.

I pulled out all the stops for Echo as well. And he seemed to be getting better and then he died gasping for breath. He was so young and yet old enough that he should have had a fighting chance against distemper. I know how deadly it can be, especially for kittens. But I really wanted him to live. He didn't deserve to lose his life. He fought so hard too, I know he wanted to survive. I feel like he was cheated, and I can't help but be mad with God for this. There was no reason for him to die like that.

Kymanifly I had my 10 YR cat die laying beside me on Monday. No signs of anything, he laid beside me like he always does and then keeled over. I rushed him to the vet which is  a 4 minute drive. As soon as I picked him up I knew he was gone. I rushed him in but there was nothing they could do. I know how you feel. With all the bad in the world why do we lose the good? I'm really starting to get bouts of anger. Try to keep busy and get out of the house, it has helped me a bit. The tears are a little less everytime I come home. Hang in there. Scott

I do try to keep busy. Maybe in a couple of months I'll look into adopting. Save a life for the one taken. The tears are definitely not as bad as the first day. I try not to think of Echo too much. I want to do a collage for him when I feel like i have the strength to go through all his pictures. Thankful i will be getting his ashes back soon. Although that is not the way i wanted him to come home. It's just strange and uncomfortably lonely not to see him walking through the house. I still expect him to walk through my bedroom door in the middle of the night. Then i have to remember that he never will again. And its devastating all over again.
