Muleymaggie so sorry you had to lose your girl so suddenly. It happens so frequent with this cancer. There are very subtle signs you rarely see my boxer Summer would pant a little but nothing bad and other little things looking back were a little different but nothing to say she was sick.My vet said only an ultrasound would have picked it up so very hard to see until it's too late. She didn't have any anal bleeding just one day slept woke up on bed barely jumped off and collapsed.rushed to vet said tumor on spleen burst probably this cancer tried to stabilize but she went into cardiac arrest and passed. It is such a horrible cancer comes out of nowhere dog could be playing one minute and collapsing the next.I hope more research is done on this .Im sorry you lost your girl Maggie but there was nothing you could do.I was also In disbelief slept with her woke up and hour of so later she was gone but sometimes dogs just pass in an instant.i do believe in signs and that candle was a heart shape I'm sure She is letting you know she's okay. They never leave us only in body.take care
