My beloved cat,I should say-my child-left on her usual walk on 4th of august and never came back. Her name was Cookie, she was just one year old. She was a tortie. She loved me so much, she used to lie down with me her head on the pillow and purrrrr. I opened the door to let her out with my own hands. She loved the sun and grass. She always came back. Not this time. I cried and howled at night on my knees like a mad woman for days. Posted posters everywhere, posted in social media. No one saw her. She had her collar and her ID with our number, but nobody called. I think another animal killed her. I am going INSANE from guilt and from loss. Please help me I don’t know how to go on.

I don't know how to say this...but there is a very good chance someone found her and has kept her to raise and love. I have seen that happen many times over. Met and known people who found 'a stray' that even had ID on them! Even though she had her collar on, there are people who see pets alone as "free" and having a collar on means nothing to them. People who take in the animals are well meaning people despite what you and I might think. And in most cases the animal winds up with a great home. They were taken in by these people because the people are animal lovers and believe they are helping the animal.

I am very sorry this happened to you however. I am very familiar with the hysterical howl being on your knees that you described.

I am really, really sorry for you.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I can’t help but think of the worst... I really really hope she’s alive and if she found a new home, I’d be ecstatic... I’m a mess without her. I won’t ever be the same.
