My dog died. He was 4-5 years old. I adopted him June 14, 2018. He passed away on June 1, 2019. I am so so so lost so so so confused. I’m a mess. I don’t know what to think. I don’t know what to do. He was my first dog. My first dog I’ve ever had. I got him by myself. I drove an hour to the shelter. I paid for him. I paid the deposits. My bf did nothing yet he took him on a hike that was too long and he came home peeing blood. My bf didn’t take him to the vet didn’t do anything cuz he didn’t have the money. He dragged him on a hike and this happened. He didn’t take him to the vet. I had to. And I paid for it all. He died a few weeks later. I’m angry. I’m confused. I’m hurt. I’m shaken. I’ve had 4 dogs since and I’ve given them all back. I just gave back another dog and I feel the pain ALL OVER AGAIN. OVER AND OVER. JUST GIVING UP THese dogs. Maybe I deserve it.

Lostmyheart,  Im so sorry for your sadness and loss.  And i know how you feel when you said "Maybe I deserve it" because its the same question taht loops in my head at times.  But i dont think that is the case, you did nothing to deserve this unfortunate outcome.  I hate the life doesnt offer any explanations up front, only in hindsight do we see the whole picture and hopefully can find a place to grieve on our own terms/timeline, heal and forgive ourselves.

My heart is with you during this difficult time and if you need anything, please send me a message.

I am so sorry this is happening to you. In some ways it sounds like your worst nightmare has come true. For many of us, we too have shared the same sentiments. Different stories but similar emotions.

Please keep posting and sharing. Also, pet loss hotlines are free and can be called as many times as you need. In adddition, any hotline will take your call.

Don't go this alone.

God bless you.
