A month ago, I found Annie (kitten) on the street and took her home. A week after I found her/brought her home, she passed away in my arms. The day it happened, she woke up normally. Happy, hungry, and screaming for Simba (male tabby-not related). Later that day she became tired and I noticed it. I took her to the vet next to my house and they didn’t diagnose her with anything but being lethargic. To this day, I still blame myself because I feel like I should’ve done more. I should’ve pushed harder for the vet to give me medication. That night, she passed away and I witnessed everything. I’m happy my mom was there to hold my hand and help me with everything else. Days later, I had her cremated and in an urn that reads about the Rainbow Bridge (for those who don’t know the poem, look it up. It helps a lot). It comforts me that I know she is happy with other kittens/cats and other animals. Running, jumping, meowing, eating, etc and never getting tired again. I still have the anxiety from her passing and I am grateful to have Simba with me still. It’s difficult though because I watch Simba like a hawk. If I hear a noise out of tune, no meow for a couple hours, he sleeps too long, I worry but try to convince myself he’s fine. I’ve accepted Annie’s passing, but what I’m struggling with now is dealing with my anxiety and losing Simba when he is completely fine.

I am so sorry for your loss of your precious Annie. It is sad that she was with you for such a short time but for Annie it was pure bliss. Being cuddled in gentle hands, playing with her wonderful companion Simba, eating yummy food, how wonderful she must have felt. I don't know how old she was or what her medical condition was but you did all you could for her. She closed her eyes surrounded by your love and flew to Rainbow Bridge on the wings of angels and will be watching over you until you can be together again. Give Zumba lots of cuddles, he misses her too.
