It's funny, lately I have had things that are so cooper popping up all around me. Last week I was checking out at home goods I turned to see one of those reusable shopping bags hangings there with a few dogs on it. They were all the breeds I liked and then it hit me,,,, there was the Bassett right there in the middle.... so of course I had to get it. Today when I went grocery shopping I used my regular bags and add the new one to the mix. The girls at the check out all were enthused with the new bag. The girl bagging was saying how she wanted this dog and that dog. She asked if I had one of the dogs on the bag... I looked at the bag and said yes, I HAD a Bassett hound. My eyes just welled up. I couldn't even help it. I then said we had just lost him after Christmas. Both the girls were very sympathetic but what really can you say to the lady with tears in the check out line. I then said how amazing this breed was and what smuggler they are. Trying to bring it back to a happy place.. but, , tonight I am just so sad. I can't believe I had a cooper/bassett ... I no longer have a bassett... I miss him so much. This deep heartbreaking sadness just seems to linger. I have a days that are not as bad. we talk about him every day, He is still a big part of our life.. I would not want to change that. I just wish it didn't hurt so bad. Love you Coop. Miss you so much. I pray he knows that.

Past tense is not kind in this instance.
I had a pit bull. Her name was Idgie. A lot of the world hated her, I loved her. I cry at the wrong times too. Driving is still hard. ((hugs))
