i’ve had my dog ever since i was 2 years old and yesterday he passed away, and i miss him so much. we’ve had him for 15 years and i can’t get over that he’s really gone. i had gotten a puppy 2 years ago and she had passed away only 10 months later due to sickness and i grieved for a long time, but for some reason it’s different for him though. i feel as if this is not real and i cry everytime i think about him, and it’s getting hard not to cry in my classes. i just don’t know what to do and i need some advice to get through this tragedy of my dog.

Hi ottojade,

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dooley dog almost a week ago, so I understand how raw the feelings are. You have just lost your best friend. First know that you gave him an amazing life for 15 years. That's a great old age for a dog. I have found that coming on this site reading other peoples stories and telling my own has helped me. It hasn't taken away my devastation but it does helps to know that I am not alone and that there are people who understand what I am going through. A friend of mine suggested that I light a candle in front of Dooley's photo and talk to him.  I do this every morning and it has helped a bit too. I am here if you need to chat. Sending you hugs,
