My dearest Pogie,

You came into this world on Valentine's Day in 1990.  You truly were a special boy to mom and helped me make it through some real tough and rocky times.  It was fitting for you to be born on Valentine's Day.  I lost you on Christmas day 16-1/2 years later, a day that was one of the hardest days I have ever had to go through.  You brought me your baby brother Bosgo, a pup we brought home on St. Patrick's Day the following year.  He has been there for me and Dad, just as you were.  He is sitting with me now, as I write you your birthday and Valentine's day wishes.

Tomorrow I will go up to the lake and visit you, as I always do.  This time, however, it will be the coldest day of the year and will be in the single digits.  There was quite a bit of snow last night, and I will do my best to bring your flowers, cards and balloons to you, as I always do.  If I can't bring them through the snow, I will leave them by the mail box where we used to live, and you can have them once the weather breaks in the spring time.

I want to thank you for being the special boy you always were to me and the special boy you were to Dad when you met him.  You let him into our lives and let him be your daddy.

Please know that I think about you often and know that I love you with all my heart and soul.  You were a wonderful son and we did so many memorable things together.   :-)

Happy Valentine's Day and Happy birthday Pogie,

Love Mom, Dad, Bosgo, and Simmi
