My little girl, Sabrina, who has been with me over 18 1/2 years is failing. I lost her adopted brother three years ago, her biological brother in 2006, and her other adopted brother in 2000. I lost cats, and dogs before, but these four became my fur babies after I adopted them in 1999.

This seems like the hardest, the final good bye. I just don't know how to say good bye to her. The others were taken, without much I could do, but she has been failing slowly due to age and illness. She is in no pain. She purrs when I talk to her, brush, and seems to know she is going.

I can't let her leave me.

Melissa,

I hope you and Sabrina enjoy more love, and more love. May God bless you and all of your animal friends.

Anticipating our friends' death is thing. I think a lot of us just try to feel our way through it. This page may help.

Dear Meliss,
So sorry to hear what you are going through!
I'm really not sure what I could say to ease your pain. And this point not sure if anything really helps.
I'm sure you could tell her how much you love her, which you might be already doing so. Just being close to her, brush her, talking to her and giving her as much love as you can possibly give, could be a huge support. Unless she doesn't show interest. I'm only saying that because I heard and read many times that furbabies don't want their humans to see them suffering. Unfortunately I was so confused, broken and very scared before my baby boy passed and I didn't know either how to say good bye. I wish I could've just spent every minute with him without crying my eyes out and tell him not to be scared, and how much I'll miss him but I'll let him go if he needs to, and to come back to visit and so on. But I couldn't. I spent most of his last days with him but gosh it was heart wrecking! So I understand the feeling and might not help any but you sure are not alone.
Blessings to you both and keep us posted ๐Ÿ’Ÿ

Thank you for your responses. She was still fighting to survive, so I went against the better judgement of the vets and got her a RBC transfusion. It has helped. I am going to try to treat her through the internal medicine veterinarian. Even though it may only give me a few more months with her.

Thanks again,

Melissa

Thank you. I know everyone here feels the pain of loss. We learn to live with the grief and try to remember the goods times. It just doesnโ€™t get easier to go through. I am thankful for all the years I have had with her and her adopted siblings.
