I get it that she was old. I understand that death is part of the bargain when we get a puppy.

I keep waiting for her to come inside from the backyard. I keep waiting for her to come lick the soap off of my arm while I am in the bath.

I want to know for sure that she is okay, that the life she led with me was the best life she could have had. I want to know that I did the right thing at the end. I don't care if there is no rainbow bridge.

I just want one more conversation with her.

Oh, I've been there. I to wish for your wishes many times. I still find myself caressing his crate, dog dish and hugging Termy's favorite toy. Be assured she is okay and was truly happy with the life she shared with you. She is at Rainbow Bridge because God has a place for the pure and innocent creatures he lent us. You can talk to her any time you wish and she will hear you. She doesn't want you to be unhappy because that makes her unhappy. As hard as it is, our pets want us to be happy and to remember the journey that we traveled with them. I read several books recently to find some peace about coping with our grief and knowing that Termy is safe and happy and waiting for me, helps. I did find peace reading "wagging Tails at the pearly gate". I go out each and every night at 8:30 and talk to him and send him a good night kiss. At first it was hard because I cried a lot because I missed him so. Now I talk to him about all the wonderful things we did together. Yes there still are tears but also smiles. Termy's been at the Bridge since Sept. 18. This may not work for you but I needed to find a way to cope.
I hope you can find some inner peace to help your broken heart

Yes, they get old, and death is part of life.  But they are family and we love them, and when they are physically gone it hurts so bad.

I hope she comes to visit you in dreams and lets you know she is alright, and you did the right thing.

The fact that you love her so much tells me you gave her a great life.

Hugs,
Tuffy, Toby, Ellie and Missy's Dad

I read your post earlier today and it helped me. I saved it to read when I need it.
It is truly beautiful, thank you. David

"Owner, dearest friend,

I could never say enough Owner, dearest friend, to thank you for the love you gave to me until the end. I am sorry that I hurt you by saying my goodbye.

You gave me such a happy home. I lived a happy life. I lept and played in many ways You maybe couldn't see. Of all the pets you might have loved, I am glad that you chose me.

Its okay to miss me, for I will miss you too. Its okay to bow your head and cry if you have too.

However hard it seems today, your dear sweet heart will heal. For now, my friend remember me, and feel what you must feel.

But don't give up on loving owner dearest friend. Although the cost is oh so high, its worth it in the end. To know that you made this pets life the best one it could be, It should be no mystery why you meant the world to me."
