We just lost our cat of 15 years today, and I honestly don't know how to deal with it. I've gone through losing a pet before, but never one I've had this much time to bond with and this much connection to. Just tell me it gets easier? I honestly haven't stopped crying since it happened :(

I’m so sorry for your loss. The bonds that held you together all those years will help you get through this difficult time. It is still early days and it is expected that such a great love would result in such a great loss and sadness. May the memories and love you shared bring you through this. Be gentle with yourself and take it one day at a time.

oh yes, it gets easier. but no time soon. and that's because you are feeling what you 'should' be feeling. given the circumstances, intensive pain is expected. and you don't get over a wound of this kind quickly. just keep telling yourself that given the circumstances, your feelings are normal and understandable and will heal slowly. don't rush it or you will be disappointed.
