Yesterday I lost my hamster who had been part of our little family since Feb year. At first he was a little shy and nervous but over time he came out of his shell, became tame and we had a great bond. He was a lovely little boy who loved his food, playing in his ball (he was too big for his wheel) and chewing his houses up. He fitted in perfectly. He loved my dog k and they had such a great bond for being hamster and dog. He loved being in his ball and running into k who in return loved chasing after him ( in a friendly way). Over the past few hours he wasn't well and I knew it wasn't going to be long before I had to say bye. I wasn't expecting it to be as soon as it has happened. I went shopping and came home and was bathing his eyes (he had an eye infection and was on a cream from vets) and it was like a sign of relief I was bathing his eyes and putting his cream in I felt so helpless I couldn't do more for him. I found him a lovely little scarf and wrapped him up for a cuddle. He popped his little head out and looked at me and closed his eyes and sadly left us to go to pet heaven. A vet later confirmed he had sadly passed away and wasn't hibernating. My heart sunk and I burst into tears. We've laid him to rest in our little garden and lit a candle in his memory. Even though he was a hamster he played a big role in our family and has left us gutted. I know people tell you don't get attached they don't live long but when they had a personality like my fur baby it's hard not too. I'm going to miss calling his name and him come running out his bed for his favourite milk drop treats. R.I.P E your going to be missed so much. :( :(

I'm so sorry that happened to you and your family. I can tell that you all loved him a lot. And I'm sure that he knew that.

Hi Dandilol

I'm so sorry you are feeling sad about your little furry friend. Hampsters are such little bundles of fun and personality and really wriggle their way into your hearts.

Years ago I had a little chap (very originally named Hammy) who lived to be 7. Our vet said he was the longest surviving hampster he had ever known. He died of heart failure and I was truly broken hearted. I cried for weeks and left a little pile of bedding where his little house had been for ages as I couldn't bear to sweep it up.

If you love animals then you just love animals, big and small and of all shapes and sizes.

Take care. Sending you hugs and happy thoughts

Hi dandilol, I am so sorry for your loss, I had several hamsters through my life and loved them so much.

They are very sweet little ones and ours loved his wheel too, I am sending you warm hugs on your loss and lots of healing green light too.

Im sure there were many to greet your furbaby at the bridge, probably a lot of squeaky wheels going on!

Come visit us on Monday night for a candle ceremony 10 pm eastern time.
