Last Wed. morning my kitten, Jazzy, was hit by a truck.  She was the most wonderful, fun-loving animal I ever owned.  She was a soothing element in my life and now she's gone.  I cried so hard my head hurt and it was hard to describe to someone who didn't love animals how she was such an important part of my life.  I didn't know where to turn.  I plugged in "pet loss "on the Internet and found your site. I think I need to communicate with another pet lover who understands my grief.

Welcome to the forum Fran.  Here you will find many others who are/have experienced the same grief you are.

I found this forum last week.  We lost our 15 year old Ernie to undetected congested heart failure.  One minute he was fine, the next he was paralyzed from his waist down.  We took him in for emergency treatment a week ago last Sunday.  No hope, so we had to make the decision to let him go.  He was the last of our long line of kitty babies and now the house is empty.

What you're experiencing is real grief and it will take time.  It does help to talk with others who understand so glad you found the forum.

Friends, even if well meaning, if they've never loved a pet as we all have, they just don't understand the loss and how painful and real the grief is.

Know you can talk with folks on here as much as you need and they will understand what you're going through.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Jazzy.  If you have a picture of your sweet little one, please post a picture.

Thanks JennyH,

I went to the local animal rescue and I adopted a kitten that looks just like my Jazzy.  He's 10 weeks old and he's very lovable and active.  I realized that I can't replace Jazzy, but he can fill the void.  I never participated in a chat room before, but I think I need the fellowship right now.

I am so sorry for your loss.  These animals move right into our hearts.

Hi Fran

So sorry for your loss.  I too like everyone here on this site has lost a beloved pet.  It never gets any easier to cope.  My Rupert has been gone 19 weeks now and I still miss him like mad.  Some days are good days and some not good.  At first you are numb, like being in a fog and then that clears and reality sinks in.  They are never are coming back.  It is very hard and I wish you the best in your grieving. Welcome Fran!  I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your precious little Jazzy.  You've come to the right place.  The people here amaze me each and every day - this forum is a saving grace.  Please know that your Jazzy is in a beautiful place and her spirit is with you always.  She knows your heart and loves you too.  I'm so sorry.  We've all been there and we all understand.  Please share a picture your baby with us when you're ready.  Take your time and allow yourself time to grieve.  You're in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.  God Bless you and little Jazzy.

I'm sorry for your tragic loss of Jazzy.  It is hard for anyone who does not love animals to know how you feel.   We all do, so you have come to the right place.  I'm glad you were able to adopt another kitten that will help you through your loss.  When you feel up to it, tell us more about Jazzy and perhaps share her picture.    Come here as often as you need to, we will help you through this also.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers,
Nina Maria's Mom

Thank you all for your support.  Grieving is a terrible emotion to deal with alone.  Sometimes I think I love my animals too much.  I also never realized how comforting and soothing a cat can be.  I also have dogs and I love them to pieces, but cats are different.  I will continue to read and contribute to this site.  Fran

Fran, I am so sorry for the loss of your little Jazzy. My cat Gizmo was hit by a car on Feb. 21, 2008 so I understand how you feel. It is very tramtic to lose a fur baby especially to a tragic accident. I know Jazzy is having loads of fun at the rainbow bridge with all his new friends. I know my Gizmo will look after him for you

Dear Fran,
I totally feel for you.  My Hank was hit by a truck on April 5/2008.  I feel his loss every day and miss him greatly, so I know what you are going through.  Your Jazzy will be at the Rainbow bridge, healthy, happy and whole again.  My Hankie will look after her.
