I had to make the call yesterday morning to put my little boy down at home. He was a 13 year old Shih Tzu by the name of Jay (JayBird). He had been sick for a while with an autoimmune disorder. He would have seizures once every couple days but bounce back like nothing was wrong. He started to lose his eye sight as of a month ago as well. I just moved out of my mom’s with her. We’ve been there for 11 years and she wanted to downsize while I got a new job and got out of “moms house.” I met up with her at her boyfriends house where she was with JB that morning and we went to our storage unit where he had a screaming seizure in her car :( I made a quick decision to call around and find someone who could euthanize on a Saturday afternoon. A few hours later he went away at my newly moved-out old house where we happened to be headed to clean up one last time. The process was traumatizing and he helped with the sedative shot.. he then got loopy and layed down and fell asleep, where the process took place and he passed in front of me. I covered him in his blanket and carried him to the vet’s car where I said my last goodbye. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and watch my mom see her baby go in front of her. JB got her through a very tough divorce and was with her every day of his life. I’m in need of some support at this time as I’m not sure I can do it alone.

I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. That’s very hard to go through and experience. I wish you the best knowing your cat is at peace and you’ve given all you’re love to him. It’s a sad thing our pets go so soon and unexpected. We will get through this together ❤️ Thank you so much for your genuine words.

I so very much understand that terrible feeling you had choosing to euthanize and it is traumatic. I think though, that it is one of the best gifts we can give our babies when they are in pain. 13 years is an amazing life just remember that when you’re feeling down.. I had to make the final decision for my family and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I think you gave your JB exactly what he needed.. I found this site in May when I had to say bye to my boy and I’ve found incredibly understanding people on here.. it sounds like for you this just happened and I’m going to admit it’ll be hard for a while but keep strong..
