I just wanted to share a couple of pics of my beautiful babies Luke and a young, healthy and happy way that I love to remember them.  It's true what they say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, and I'll never find two more beautiful souls again in this life!  How I love them both!

Wow - they are stunning! Are they biologically related? What is the name of this breed? Really beautiful xx

Judesmom, I lost both of these beautiful babies last month, three weeks to the day from one another.  The big fella, Luke, was 13 years old, and little Lil was 12 years old.  Luke has struggled with diabetes for the last three years of his life, but was well maintained with insulin, diet and exercise.  Lil's illness was quick and unexpected......I took her to the vet for what I thought may be an ear infection and she turned up with advanced Lymphoma, and given only weeks to live.  It tore my heart right out of me!

When I got her home from the vet, Luke sensed right away that something was wrong with his little buddy, and he stopped eating.  Long story short, he essentially starved himself over the next week and a half and I needed to release him from his pain on July 5th.  Little Lil was lost without him, besides being so sick, and she was released to go join him on July 26th.  I've never in my life felt so alone and empty after losing my precious babies.

The pain has lessened.  It's been 8-weeks since Luke passed and 5-weeks for Lil.  Thankfully, they've given me signs that they're still with me and they're OK.....but I will always miss them terribly!

God Bless.  LukeAndLilsDad  (Rick)

Megansmum, they are Siberian Huskies, although the party from which I purchased Luke claimed that his great-grandfather was a full blood timber wolf.  Luke got much bigger than Sibes are supposed to.....120 pounds in his prime, so there may well be something to that!  Lil is a purebred Sibe female...she got up to about 60 pounds.  They are not related....I got Lil a year after I got Luke, for the companionship.  They were inseparable from day one, and Lil never spent a day without her buddy after she came to live with us, until Luke's passing.  They have given me so much joy!  LukeAndLilsDad  (Rick)

rick-i am so sorry to hear that you lost both of your sweet babies so close together.    it almost sounds as if they were simply meant to be together and could not be parted.   luke wanted to be with his lil and he made sure that he was going to be waiting for her and help her cross over.    it's a love story-doggie style.

i know your heart must have shattered into a million pieces twice in a very short span of time.   i don't know how you even can get up out of bed every day.   i think i would be in the rubber room by now if i was you.

please tell us more about your babies and what their personalities were like.   and if you care to, please share your signs as well.   they always are so comforting.

Dear Rick,
What beautiful dogs they were. And I'm a real sucker for blue eyed ones as my beloved Zephyr was blue eyed and so is my sweet Cadence.

It has to have been hard to loose them so close together.

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful best friends with all of us.  What wonderful memories you will always have.  Take care Rick - remember, grieving is a process - not an event.  It cannot be rushed.  Wishing you all the best.  Diane
