Here is a picture of my sweet Mandy.

Two weeks and one hour as I write this. Time just keeps marching on and the tears just keep falling. Makes me cry thinking of how she was 10 minutes from dying, I had no idea, we were going to the vet, I said let's go in the car and she just walked out to the car. Never even occurred to her to just lay there and refuse to get up. I said it so she did it. She was such a good girl, right to the very end of her life. Her goal was to please, always, even as she was dying. They are such loving, unselfish beings aren't they!

By the way, I was just admiring this beautiful picture of Mandy, and I realized this was taken only 2 1/2 weeks before she died. She looks great! She does not even look old, never mind like a dog who doesn't have long to live. I guess that's why it was such a shock to me, once she started on the steroids, this is how she looked and it was hard to believe the end could possibly be so near to the time this picture was taken.

Hi Mandy's Mom. Yes, she was absolutely beautiful. Reminds me of Bella Blue on her last night when she met me at the front door one last time and walked to the backyard, barely, to feel grass once more. Soon as she got out there, she couldn't get up and I knew.

Now they're all playing together and meeting so many others, human and fur, that have gone on before us.

Hugs to you on your loss.

Mandy had cancer of the spleen. It was quite a large sized tumor. We actually were going to put her to sleep June 13 because she was having pain and not eating at all. The vet put her on steroids and this picture was taken 2 days later. She was eating 3 meals a day plus anything else she could beg from us, she gained some weight and wasn't having anymore pains. She was really doing well. Then on July 3 the tumor started to bleed internally, which I knew would eventually happen, and she faded away and died on the way to the vet. But the steroids did give her 3 more really nice weeks. She ate whatever she wanted, laid outside watching all the happenings in the backyard and the woods, which she loved to do, and we spent a lot of time together. I am happy she had those 3 extra weeks.

Dear Mandy's Mom:
Thank you for sending this absolutely beautiful picture of your sweet Mandy.  I am so very sorry for your loss. It is very difficult to lose our beloved pets unexpectedly.  Yes, they are unselfish, loving, loyal and our best friends.

I hope that you will find peace and think of all the wonderful times you shared with Mandy.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your sweet Mandy.

Many hugs,
Mary,

Oh, Mandy is a beautiful girl. Just beautiful! Such pretty eyes, and I love her little eyebrows. I am so sorry for your loss. We are here for you. We know the incredible pain and sadness you are feeling. Please try to get some sleep and take care of yourself. I know when I am grieving, I actually don't want to talk to people or see them. I hole up, or I spend time with the shelter dogs (I volunteer at a local human society). Being in the company of animals is truly a balm. Let me know how you are doing.

Mandy's Mom,
Your sweet Mandy is adorable. We live next door to a husky and I love their spirited ways of engaging life.
My schnauzer Molly had 6 weeks from the time she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma of the mouth to the day we had to help her to the Bridge. Even with the early pain caused by debriding the mouth, she always did what she was asked to do. She and Mandy were alike that way. Just wanting nothing but to please.
Molly was put on prednisone about a week into her "last days", shortly after the debriding. She too got a new lease on life, if only for a few weeks.
These sweet, endearing little souls are with us for all too-short a time. Forever would not be long enough to have them with us.
May sweet memories of Mandy sustain you through this difficult time.

Mandy is so adorable.  She looks like she has such a happy smile on her face.  It is just heartbreaking to lose these Precious Souls.  They bring so much Joy into our lives and when they leave the Joy leaves with them.  You and Mandy are in my Prayers.

Big Hugs

Dear Mandy's Mom,

Thank you so much for sharing this sweet, beautiful photo of Mandy.  I'm at one week and three days since my Brandy died.  Today I received her ashes and a beautiful urn with her etched photo.  It's been a "cry all day" type day.  One step forward, two steps back.  While at the vets, a gentleman was dropping off his two pups to be boarded.  One gave me a kiss and the other made a huge fuss over me.  It's like Brandy made sure that there was some special canine comfort for me.

I am so grateful that Brandy was a part of my life for 7 years and I don't regret having her in my life for one moment!  How blessed we are to have our hearts touched by these beautiful "children" of ours.  The love will never end.

God Bless,

Kim

Yes, Mandy was such a sweetheart. She had my heart the day we brought her home and she went to bed that night and was crying for her mom and siblings. From that day on, I was her mom. She was such a good girl. I miss her so much!
