Its been a long week since this last Saturday when I found out that my 12 year old sheltie has a tumor. The future for her is rather dim. She has slowed down a lot and is on medication due to her coughing. I'm really going to miss her. That's all I can say right now....without crying a river.

Jan-- I'm so sorry to hear about your little sheltie. I know the power of prayer, and you'll be getting many prayers from me for your furchild. One can never know what God has in store for us, but there are such things as miracles and maybe that's what you'll get. I'll be definitely praying for that.
Many hugs your way---Teddy's Mom

I am so sorry your beloved little Sheltie is so ill. It is so unbearably difficult to watch our little ones suffer. My heart and prayers are with both of you. Please don't hesitate to come here for support. I did so when my beloved little terrier, Betsy, was suffering from dementia and muscle wasting. She left for the Bridge just four months ago. The people here have helped me so much. Hugs, Melissa Betsy's forever loving mom

I think it's really hard when they're dx with something and you're unsure about how it will all go. The uncertainty--is so hard.
It depends on the type and location of the tumor, too. Sometimes they have much more time than you think. Statistics are just that, each animal is different. I had a husky, over 2 yrs. ago, dx w/liver cancer. Well, that cancer is a very rapidly debilitating one. I started giving her flax oils/cottage cheese (Budwig's cure-- 1c. cottage cheese to 2 tbls. flax oil in a blender--a big dollop of it every day, 2/day, and she loved it actually). She started doing better right away.I gave her echinacea/milk, too, for her immune system. SHe's now 15 1/2, losing some weight, but still running and playing. I hope your pet beats the odds, too.
