I am hurting so bad and have to do something so I can try not to think about it 24/7.
Yesterday I had to euthanize the best friend I ever had.His name was Pete and he was a shelter dog I have had for six years.Pete was a special dog who never left my side.
He is six and a half years old a mix of pointer and Dalmatian.smarter than me and way more handsome.
Two weeks ago he just stoped eating his dog food and by the time he went to the vet a few days later his skin was turning yellow from liver failure.
Turns out he had something called IMHA with complications.
He was such a great dog.Slept in my bed and since I am disabled he spent every minute with me.
I am just drowning in grief.I held him as he passed and can’t get that image out of my head.
Pete I miss you and love you so much.

Sorry to hear of your loss Imisspete. Six years is a long time and I am happy you shared that time with your best friend, I bet he was thankful for the time with you too. Sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. It feels awful. I hope time eases your pain. Take care.

I am so very sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my boy two weeks ago, so know what you are feeling right now. It is devastating. You did your best for Pete. And helping him pass, so he would no longer suffer, was the right and selfless thing to do. Pete got to pass into the next world with you beside him, the one he loved the most.
This forum has helped me loads. Just having a place to grieve openly without judgement. Also, many people here have great wisdom on things that will help get you through the day. Sherry (Always_there) suggested to me that lighting a candle each day in front of my Dooley's photo, might help and it has. So I would suggest the same to you. It is hard and it will be hard for a while but that is the consequence of experiencing such great love for another being. So while I am miserable now, I hope one day that I can look back at all the love and happiness I was fortunate to enjoy with my Dooley dog and I truly hope you will be able to feel the same for Pete. Sending you hugs!
