My best friend Taiko had just turned 15 years old. I had adopted him when he was 6 months old. I didn't realize he was sick until it was to late, he didn't have any symptoms or display anything was wrong. Two weeks ago I took him to the vet for a check-up, couldn't imagine the bad news the vet had for me. Taiko had been diagnosed with cancer, I started him on treatment that day but noticed he was getting worse after the two weeks. Took him back to vet after 2 weeks of treatment hoping to get some good news, instead the results were terrible. My best friend in the world passed away peacefully in my arms on the 17th Feb 2020.

I keep going back an looking at the last photos of Taiko an all I see is him looking at the camera like was saying ' I'll be ok dad, just take me home'. It just breaks my ❤️ he was so sick the vet didn't think he last more than a couple of days.

I just feel like I 'killed' my best friend even though I know euthanizing him was the best option.

I really miss my boy Taiko.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Taiko. I'm going on six weeks now and some parts of the day are starting to get easier. My dog passed away from an unforeseen illness we were able to treat for a couple months but we just caught it to late as well.

You are not alone, and my thoughts are with you and Taiko. I hope he finds max over the rainbow bridge!
