It was only on Thursday that my dear Samantha was put to sleep after being diagnosed with liver cancer on Monday.
My constant companion for over 14 years she was with me and her sister Maggie [died 2008] every day.
I miss her barking to be let in or out of the house, her chasing the rabbits in the garden and greeting me as I drive into the gate, but most of all I miss her trusting eyes looking up and me and knowing that she is safe as long as I am here.
I know the pain will go but the grief is so hard to carry.

Enjoy eternity with Maggie and wait for me.

Thanks Wendy, sometimes it is hard to grieve for pets for fear of being called foolish.
This is a perfect conduit being amongst animal lovers who have lost their dearest friends and know how you are feeling.

Good Morning Chris:
My sincere Condolences with the passing of your beautiful Samantha.  It's a feeling that is hard to explain.  We put our dear Buffy of 14 years down 5 weeks ago today because of many issues, kidney, dementia we were able to handle those 2 issues, then I think she began having some type of seizures...and progressively got worse.  It was very very hard to let her go, but in the same sense I didn't want to keep pushing medicine down her for my benefit.  A day doesn't go by yet that I don't shed many tears.  I talk to her everyday.  This website has helped me tremendously.

It seems like friends and family just don't understand the devastation.  You have a lot of memories of Maggie and Samantha and that will bring smiles to your face one day.  I always look for signs from Buffy.

I know you miss your wonderful furbabies tremendously... and please come back and post again to let everyone know how you are doing.

Chris ~ I am very sorry your dear companion, Samantha, has passed on.  Losing a pet that has been by your side for 14 years is painful.  There are so many memories in your home and so many reminders of Samantha.  Maggie and Samantha have been reunited and are happy as puppies again....running all around and having a great time.  Knowing that we will be reunited with our babies again for all of eternity gives us the courage to endure the sorrow now.
