One day my 14 year old Cocker spaniel vomited a lot, she had diareah and couldn’t stop weeing, I took her to the vets and they said they would take her teeth out on Monday as they where all black, they said come back in 2 hours for the blood results, I went back and was told she had kidney renal failure and had at least 24 hours, I was asked if I wanted to put her down now or tomorrow, I knew how much pain she was in and put my little girl to sleep, it broke my heart watching her die, I thought she was okay, that she just had bad breath, but I noticed how ill she has been getting lately, she was blind for about 2 weeks, she’s weighed 7kg, before she got sick she weighed 14kg, it broke my heart and I don’t think I will ever be the same again, I see her everywhere I go and my heart feels like it’s bleeding the pain just won’t go.

I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Lady girl.

Having had a cocker spaniel I know just how wonderful and loving they are.  We had our special girl Miriam for 4 years.  We adopted her when she was 10 years old, so already a senior.  She had lots of health issues, heart murmur, kidney problems and digestive issues.  But we loved her and hopefully gave her the best years of her life.  Someone had abandoned her at a vet's office after hours and that's when the rescue came and got her.  She rescued us much more than we rescued her, for she helped ease our heartache after the loss of our 17 year old cockapoo.

I can tell you the first days after the loss of a pet are the most awful.  You don't think you are going to survive, but indeed you will.  What saved me is coming to this forum and getting comfort from the wonderful and compassionate people here.  We all know what you are going through.  Please come back and tell us more about your special girl Lady.

Sending you thoughts and prayers of comfort,

Barb (Angel Brandy's and Angel Miriam's mom)
