Our Rottweiler recently attacked our English bull terrier. I saw the fight begin and got them apart. It was absolutely horrible and I’m convinced that if it had continued, he would have killed our bull terrier. We are committed to keeping the dogs apart for the rest of their lives. I’m struggling right now with forgiving our Rottie. I can’t look at him without seeing the fight. I don’t sleep well and have nightmares about the fight. Will it get better as time passes? 😢

Hi Clanger

That must’ve been so awful for you. I’m sorry this has happened.

I can imagine you are in a very stressful situation in having to keep your loved ones apart. Wouldn’t it be easier if they could talk and tell you why this happened?

I have had 6 dogs, 2 of which were rotties. Have you thought about contacting a dog behaviourist? They may be able to help you with managing this situation to keep both dogs safe. There will be a reason why your rottie did this and it may help to get an expert to help you with the why to enable you to forgive?

Yes, it will get better as time passes. You’ve had an awful shock and the nightmares and not being able to sleep are probably part of processing the event.

Take care of yourself..
