My dad had our 10 month old German Shepherd puppy outside at night and he wasn’t watching him as avidly as he should have been by his own admission. We had the invisible fence but he ran through it and was struck by an oncoming car and died on the way to the emergency vet. We are all heartbroken. He was the sweetest most amazing dog ever. The mornings and evenings are the worst bc he was always there to greet you w tail wags and kisses. He followed me everywhere. It’s so hard bc the house is so quiet now. My mom is taking it especially hard and she’s so mad at my dad. My dad is even more mad at himself and says he will never forgive himself. I told him it was an accident. I tried talking to my mom but she is so angry that she needs time. It’s only been three days. I just miss him so so much. He is so loved and missed.

I am so sorry. It's hard to lose a pet at such a young age. But you are right, it was just a tragic accident, nothing more. Things  happen and we can't explain why or understand. Be gentle with your dad, he feels the most guilt. Your mom will understand, in time that it was an accident.
I know you hurt and you heart is broken. I wish I knew the words to say to make you feel better but there are no words, no magic words to take the pain away. I lost my heart dog 15 months ago and I still cry for my loss. I know you will always feel the loss but time will help. Give your dad a hug and tell him you forgive him.

I was wondering how you are doing since you posted. This is such a difficult time for you and I was caring about you.
