It is almost exactly one week to the moment I said my goodbye to my beautiful golden boy. A sad milestone for me and I find myself looking at the clock waiting for the exact time. I miss him so, so much. The house is not the same without his huge, loving presence. I’ve been trying to find peace by focusing on my gratitude for having been able to have such a wonderful dog in our family for many, many years. He gave us so much joy and comfort and I’m so thankful to have been blessed with him. Our love for him will never leave us and he will stay with us in our thoughts and memories always.

Hi Goldenmom.

Your boy sounds wonderful and was so blessed to have had such a loving family! You and your family are blessed too to have had him. My thoughts are with you and no doubt you have a huge load of wonderful, special memories to keep cherished in your heart.

Thank you babydaisy for your kind response. He really was a truly wonderful boy. I spent time this morning sitting with my family and talking about how grateful we are for the time we had with him. I was feeling anxious leading up to the one week milestone of our goodbye but sitting and talking helped so much to focus my thoughts on being happy for everything we shared and to smile through my tears. Thank you again for reaching out. Your support means a lot. :)

You were so blessed to have had such a wonderful dog for so many years. Are you eating better now? Sleeping? Reaching out to other like-minded pet people? Not to worry if this isn't happening just yet. There is no set schedule for our individual grieving journey. Take all the time you need to cry, scream and just let loose. You sound like a very level headed person and I know that things will be better for you down the road. In the meantime, let the tears flow. That's what I'm doing. Not holding back at all.

Sending positive vibes your way,

Jim

Thank you Jim, I do feel that I was very blessed. I’m through with Mac & Cheese and peanut butter sandwiches for now but I’m still sticking with comfort foods, I can’t tell you when I last ate veggies (they’re not my comfort food! Lol!) Grief is a difficult journey and I’m allowing myself to go through it in a way that honors how I’m feeling. There are times when I’m feeling stronger than others and there are times when the sadness is overwhelming. Tonight was a sad night. My family was all missing our boy. Lots of tears were shed and memories shared. I know the road ahead is brighter with fewer tears but for now I’m okay with the tears because they are tears of love for a boy who is missed so much. Thank you again for your supportive message. To know others are willing to reach out to support me in the midst of their own grief has been another huge blessing in my life. I’m always here as well to be a support so please keep reaching out. Sending you comfort & peace.
