For those of you that are interested, I am sending you this site I found to be interesting and comforting.  At the bottom of the first experience are 5 others to read.  I am also reading the book featured on this site page - "Animals and the Afterlife" that gives many detailed accounts of pet communication with their loving owners.  I've come to realize more loving pets return with a sign than humans do.... I find that very intersting... and in my heart it makes me feel that's because they are waiting at the bridge, and have not gone over to heaven until we join them so they remain closer to us until that time comes. All things we'll know and understand when our time comes... until then, we search for possible answers.

I know many of you have had signs and visits from your precious babies and I am still hoping my Murph will visit me too.

Interesting site!  Even the Catholic Church has stated that animals have souls.  I hope the priest who argued with me saying they didn't ,thought of me and our discussion.

I had told him I could not conceive of a heaven without my pets there.

Thank you Murphy. This without a doubt gives us something to truly look forward to. A verification that the reunion will come. I for one look forward with great anticipation to again being with my loved ones and getting to know my mother who departed tragically when I was 12 years old. I await the reunion with my special companions with great anticipation. May we all find peace.

Thank you for the links.  It has never entered my mind that animals might not have souls. I have doubted that about some people, but never animals.

Becky--You're so right. I don't think any animal hasn't a soul;they are all just unconditionally perfect, but people, ha, that's another story!

I always have felt I could see my animals' souls shining through their beautiful eyes. They love us unconditionally and perfectly and ask for so little in return. If only we could be more like them the world would be such a better place.

yes, I never doubted Murphy had a spirt and soul... when I looked into her eyes they were full of expression and emotion.  I could see when she was happy and when she became bored by getting older, ackyer (if that's a word) and less mobile.  They are really so like us!

What gave me comfort was to hear the confirmations from those that experienced NDE's that they actually saw their pet's in their heavenly visit. The more confirmations I read the better it makes me feel :-}

Murphy, It also gives me comfort to hear these accounts.  My brother always says that out of all the tens of thousands of stories peopletell,if only one is true, it is confirmation for us all.  I also think there are many, many people who have experiences and never tell because of how other people react to them.

I miss my precious baby dog so much.  He loved to sit at the far end of the fence in the sunshine.  I would call and he had a very unique way of looking over his shoulder at me.  I fancy he sits like that now in another place, looking out into grassy fields he is free (and healthy enough) to run through.  Yet he still seems to be waiting . . . maybe for me.  I am not ready to go any time soon, but I still long to have him near.

After finding this group and posting about the loss of our pet rat Rascal, someone in that thread pointed me to "Animals and the Afterlife." We ordered it and, where I'm not the fastest reader, I've been reading it ever since, a few stories every night at bed time. Yes, indeed, the book is comforting and very helpful.

Loosing Rascal has proven to be the most painful loss of my life. There is something about the way the little ones claw into our hearts, and leave a bigger hole when  they pass on. But maybe things are all for a reason. It gave me the chance to tell many people on this forum and many other places what wonderful beings rats are. And it has opened a whole new world to me, and I'm the better for it. I many times feel Rascal's presence in many more ways than I can tell here.

Thank you Murphy's Mom for posting something so encouraging and uplifting.

I've always believed in NDE's and reading this gives me comfort that little Scruffy is waiting to jump back into my arms again. I miss you Scruffy.

Peace be with you little guy.

With love,

I also truly believe that animals have souls and go to heaven. My rationale is; why would God who loves us give us these animals to love so dearly and love us, and then take them away forever? It doesn't make sense that God would do something like that. God is the source of love. I believe that when we go to heaven, we'll be with God, our family and all our pets, because those are the people and pets that God put into our lives to love and be loved by.

It would be a good post to renew.  I know I always had an experience after losing a pet of either feeling them jump on my bed at night or hear them talking to me and meowing at night.  My last cat who I just had euthanized a few weeks ago was very vocal all the time and the night I let him go I heard him talking to me like he always did.  It would be interesting to hear what other people have experienced.

Yesterday I decided to take a nap in the afternoon.  Just before I got up, I heard the cling clang of my Callie's collar.  I was wondering if others feel that this was just a dream or was she actually present in my bedroom.     My Callie is gone 5 months now, I still  miss her terribly.

I often wondered if it was a dream also but it always happened right after they passed and sometimes woke me up clearly believing I heard it or felt it.  There was no dream connected to it though, just hearing or feeling them.

Interesting topic, I lost my dog last week and have woken up a couple of times to what sounds like his claws running across the hardwood floor down stairs. I truely believe our pets visit us from the other side, I lost my brother a 3 years ago and like to think he's with my furry baby up there playing endless ball.
