I lost my little Emma today. She was a tiny little cat who began life as a feral. I took her in along with her littermates, Tommy and Katie. Along the way, we ended up having Jackson and Gracie join our family as well. Jackson left us suddenly two years ago due to a probable heart attack at 9 years old.

This left me with Tommy, Katie, Emma, who are 13 and Gracie who is 12. Over the weekend, I noticed that Emma did not seem to be eating very much and suddenly seemed to be a little bag of bones. Her breathing did not look right. At the vet yesterday, she was found to have breast cancer and possibly lung cancer as well. There was fluid around her lungs. We tried a steroid injection to give her more time in comfort but this morning she was panting with her mouth open. Took her right to the vet and by the time we got there she was choking, coughing up blood, etc. She left for Rainbow Bridge just minutes after arriving at the vet.

I'm so glad she doesn't have to suffer through anything else. Run free, Emma. Find Mandy and Jackson, they'll be happy to see you. We will all miss you here but enjoy running free and healthy at Rainbow Bridge. We will all be together again one day.
