I lost my precious Golden Retriever a month ago.  He was 17.  He adopted us at the age of 14.  He was left abandoned when his owners moved.  Alone in a house, have no idea of for how long.  I believe he was abused, as he was a submissive pee er when he adopted us.
Lance was the love of my life.  Such a sweet sweet boy.  He passed from Lymphoma.....we had hoped and prayed it was just pneumonia.  Treated him for over two months until we were given the lymphoma diagnosis.  So hard to see him struggle to breathe. It had to be terrifying for him.  I question if I waited to long to put him to sleep.

I am so sorry that you lost your beloved Lance.  It sounds like he had a rough life before you found him and he was a lucky boy to have you and finally find love as A Senior Pup.  You didn't wait too long, you treated him for what you thought was Pneumonia and it turned out to be something more serious.    I'm sure Lance was happy to have the extra 2 months with you.  You did what you thought was best for your sweet boy.
