here they are:
"How Am I Supposed To Live Without You"- Michael Bolton
"With You in Your Dreams"-Hanson
"It Was Our Day"-B*Witched
"You'll Be In My <3" -Phil Collins
"Slipped Away"-Avril Lavigne
Music has become therapy for me for this and other occasions as well. It's weird that there are certain songs that mean nothing to you untill you get in a situation and you're like "Wow!" I can relate to that.....
Please feel free to add!

The ones that touch me the most are those that remind me that God knows what I am going through, I am not alone, and that He is in control.
"Praise You in This Storm" - Casting Crowns This song came on the radio just as I was reaching my destination as I was taking my cat Jenny's ashes to the place I would scatter them. This was nearly 2 1/2 years ago now and this song still hits me each time I hear it. I know that its words are true. "You are God Alone" - Phillips Craig & Dean "I Can Only Imagine" - MercyMe God reminded me of this song on the night my grandfather died (almost 7 years ago now). It still means so much to me. For me it is is the dance by Garth Brooks, I really identify with the words " I'm glad I didn't know the way it all would end or I'd have had to miss the dance"
This song helped me a lot when I lost my first horse Chester after having him just 3 days short of a year, he had a massive intestinal tumor that had started way before I bought him but I gave him the best year of his life.

I believe it was Diane who mentioned "The Promise" by Tracy Chapman. Forgive me if this is incorrect. I listened to the song and from that point on it became mine and Heidi's song. I play it whenever I go to the places I took her on "our rides. " I still cry - but sometimes it is a good cry. I hope it comforts you as well. Sincerely, YorkieHeidi

Strangely enough the song that brings me a lot of comfort is a song called "On Horseback" by Mike Oldfield (since my Nikki & Cody are dogs). "Hey and away we go Through the grass, across the snow Big brown beastie, big brown face I'd rather be with you than flying through space." I'd rather be with you than flying through space so describes how I feel about my little girls! Nothing to add....it says it all!

See You Again by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth

Although it's obviously not meant to be about a dog, I find many lines of the song so appropriate...especially "The TV is talking, the radio's on, but I can't drown out the sound of you gone". Look for "Nothing else matters but you " by Lee Mead on youtube. In memory of my beautiful boxer girl, Shira,

Thank you everybody for sharing the songs. I plan on listening to all of them. Two songs that are currently popular and make me think of my Gypsy girl are, "Sugar" by Maroon 5. This song makes me smile and think about all the joy Gypsy brought into my life when she was alive. She could make any day into a good day. The other one is "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa. I do believe, I have to believe, that I will someday see my Gypsy again and we will have lots to talk about.
Thank you again for sharing. I have always loved music and will take it over television any day. My favorite things used to be spending time with Gypsy, quilting, and listening to music. Usually all at the same time in my little quilting studio. But since losing Gypsy in January, I seem to have also lost my mo-jo. I have not been able to spend any time in my quilting studio without crying, nor can I listen to my iPod at all. They both sit gathering dust. But I do listen to the radio which is where I hear the two songs mentioned above. Hopefully, one day I will once again make quilts and listen to music that I love. I guess right now the three things are too closely related in my brain which is still dealing with a lot of grief. Sending heart felt blessings to everybody here.

This is a great topic! Here's a few of my favorites that have helped me through loss of humans and pets alike, along with certain lines that I relate most to:
Ordinary World - Duran Duran "Where is my friend when I need you most? [Gone away.]" I'll Be There - The Escape Club "Just think of me, and I'll be there." Needful Hands - Jars of Clay "You are my eyes when I can't see." Hear You Me - Jimmy Eat World "May angels lead you in." I may think of some more. If so I'll be back. Songs are a great way to help process grief.

I was reading everyones responses looking for something that would really sit with me. Then Circle of Life from The Lion King hit me like a brick and I am currently at my desk at work trying not to bawl my eyeballs out.

I have songs for my folks, and songs for my boys. When a dear friend passed in 2013, I kept hearing Offspring's "Gone Away", and it became his song. They are generally a little "harder", more "punk", and many wouldn't see the connection, but I do.
For Toby it was "Last One to Die" by Rancid, as there were a number of pet adoptions over a couple of years in our family. Of the 5, Toby was the last .. Tuffy's is "Manthem" by Bouncing Souls. "He's my friend, he's my alibi, my accessory to the crime". He was my best friend. Some of the music that I associate with my folks is more just music I was listening to at the time, some of those late depressing nights after they had passed ..

No song has helped me, other than Paint it Black, it doesn't help but at least I don't feel absolutely alone, I can relate to it at my gloomiest.

When my Baileys was put down, after we got back in the car the first song to come on was Capital Cities Safe and Sound. I cannot to this day hear that song without bawling.

I don't know of a song that makes me feel better, but when I hear John Denver's "My Sweet Lady", the lyrics sound like something Nellie would say to me if she could:
Lady, are you crying, do the tears belong to me, did you think our time together was all gone
Lady, you've been dreaming, I'm as close as I can be, and I swear to you our time has just begun

Now that a year has passed, I can say that "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" by Danny Gokey sometimes helps me.

Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time. It was the last song my best friend ever heard. It came on the t.v as she was laying on her bed shortly before her illness took a severe turn for the worse. The vet told me that it was time to let her go, I could see in my beloved dog's eyes that this was true. With this song its like she is talking to me, and it gives me hope that she is still around me and that she will always be a part of me.
Lying in my bed, I hear the clock tick and think of you Caught up in circles, confusion is nothing new Flashback, warm nights almost left behind Suitcases of memories, time after... Sometimes you picture me, I'm walking too far ahead You're calling to me, I can't hear what you've said Then you say, "Go slow", I fall behind The second hand unwinds If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time After my picture fades and darkness has turned to gray Watching through windows, you're wondering if I'm OK Secrets stolen from deep inside The drum beats out of time If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time You said, "Go slow", I fall behind The second hand unwinds If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I'll be waiting Time after time If you're lost, you can look and you will find me Time after time If you fall, I will catch you, I will be waiting Time after time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PqhOrgk11A

The one I always listen to that makes me bawl my eyes out is “I won’t let go” by Rascal Flatts. Almost 2 years on May 19th I had to say goodbye to my best friend, my lion head rabbit, Snowball. He lived to be almost 10 years old which is very old for a rabbit. He was my everything. He ended up having gum disease, we had to force feed him, give him pain meds, the vet tried filing his teeth down but it was his time. I miss him so much when I cry I can barely breathe and it’s the worst pain I have ever endured. My heart physically hurts. 💔

"I Won't Let Go." What a beautiful, moving, song. I downloaded it and have listened to it twice in the past two days. The tears just flow and I look at Sabrina & Buster's pictures while I'm hearing the music and lyrics. I pretend the words are for me, Sabrina speaking to me. It's a comfort and bittersweet pain all at the same time. It is the worst pain I, too, have ever endured. My heart physically aches too. But I would gladly bear this pain than to have seen Sabrina live one more minute in pain and miserable with no quality of life. She was so precious, as was her brother. He's been gone since January 25, 2017. The pain is still fresh and raw, but dulled. I had to make room in my heart for grieving Sabrina, who I just lost on February 20th. Buster is in my heart, waiting in the wings, for the day I can be free from the agony, and left with beautiful memories and love in my heart, the darkness replaced by their light.

I had to say goodbye to my 17 year old dog Jasmine on April 23rd. I rescued her while on vacation in Rio de Janeiro on December 29th 2001. She's been my all my good times and bad and she was the constant companion through one I could always count on. Some music that's been helping me...and tearing me apart;
Probably the best song. "Chasing Butterflies" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtrboFMqbl4 "Time in a Bottle" -Jim Croce "Everything I Owe" -Bread "Annie's Song" -John Denver "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song" -Jim Croce "Summer Breeze" - Seals and Croft (My dog's name is "Jasmine") "Photographs and Memories" -Jim Croce "Carefree Highway" -Gordon Lightfoot "One More Day" -Diamond Rio "On Every Street" -Dire Straits
